Robert Donowick

Robert is a student at The Juilliard School. He has served as principal violist for the Greater Buffalo Youth, Southtowns Youth, NYSSMA All Area, Erie County and his school orchestras. He was also a member of the All-Eastern Academic Orchestra for 2013. Robert was also chosen to participate as principal violist with the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America in its inaugural year.

He attended The New York State Summer School of the Arts, serving as principal violist. He has won numerous local scholarships and attended numerous string and chamber camps. He performs with several chamber groups and was recently chosen by WNED Radio to be part of their Young Performers Series.

He has collaborated with numerous artists such as James Ehnes, Itzhak Perlman, Valery Gergiev, David Robertson, Alan Gilbert, Jaap van Zweden, JoAnn Falletta, and musicians of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Robert has studied with Valery Heywood (principal violist of Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra), Patricia McCarty (teacher at the Meadowmount School of Music), and Peter Van Scozza (first teacher). Robert is currently studying with Roger Tapping who is violist of The Juilliard String Quartet and faculty of The Juilliard School.
