Eva Herer was born into a musical family in Pittsburgh and began her studies at the age of five. After completing her studies at the Curtis Institute of Music where she studied under Orlando Cole, she joined the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra as associate principal cello.

In 1988 she left the orchestra to raise her family and has recently completed a degree in the field of nursing. She remains an active musician in the Western New York area, playing with the BPO, the Camerata di Sant’Antonio and the Buffalo Chamber Players as well as teaching. She has participated in the Taos Chamber Music Festival, the Quartet Program, the Pensacola Chamber Players and the Skaneateles and Staunton summer festivals
