Anna Mattix
Anna Mattix is the English hornist for the Buffalo Philharmonic, a position she has held since 2007. Previous to coming to Buffalo, Anna played principal oboe with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and English horn with the Owensboro Philharmonic. A native of Fulton, N.Y., Anna attended Ithaca College where she received a Bachelor or Music in both Performance and Education. Subsequently, she received a Master of Oboe Performance from Yale University and was a doctoral candidate at Indiana University. While at Yale she developed a unique mentoring program between students at the School of Music and an inner city Magnet Arts High School. This program, which continues to this day, was honored with the prestigious Elm and Ivy given by the city of New Haven and Yale University. Anna has appeared several times in concert at the International Double Reed Society Conference and was a featured recording artist for Aire Born and The Lodge studios in Indianapolis. Her major teachers have included Ronald Roseman, Theodore Baskin, Nicholas Daniel, Anne Leek, Daniel Carno and Mark Hill. Anna is currently a member of the woodwind faculties at Canisius College, Buffalo State College and The University at Buffalo.
